Our Big Fat American Blog (Part 1)

winners!

….well classmates…we return…from yonder American shores…bent and beaten..bereft of ball and weak of bone….but grinning from ear to ear like a grinning cat…all went according to chaos…we went..we saw…we bought the t-shirt and managed to record many a song there also…your ever faithful Class of 1984…your tried and trusty noise vendors…have returned…and what a time we did have

flying oer New Jersey

we spent most of our time there holed up in the studio in North Bergen, NJ…with the lovely people of Big Blue Meanie Studio….who quickly made us feel right at home by continually referring to us as “the boggers” due to our penchant for eating peat for dinner…the studio had the gentle ambiance of a Victorian mental asylum…each person consigned to their own demented delight deep in the bowels of the building…not too unlike our own cabin back here in the Valley…big thanks to all at BBM…life time supply of turf on its way!:)

on the way to the studio with trolley found on road

me in the studio playing comptine d’un autre été on an old Wulitzer electric piano

an early indicator of fast approaching insanity…we managed to write a song called “Baby I Love The Way You Smile” in the studio…and fuck up any chance of ever being considered remotely cool or even coherent

Baby I Love The Way You Smile (In The Morning Time)

heres me explaining the run of a song to Kevin…the fair chap that recorded us…the man from Michigan…the ice man as they call him…so called because he is a pillar of steely composure…never panics, loses the rag or mispronounces the th at the beginning of a word…”two turds of the wayin Kev?”

Kevin the ice man…just queuing up the tape

Heres a snip of new song “Big Time”…bout 4 days into recording…no vocals on it at that stage

Big Time

we spent 6 days recording 8 songs…if you do the math it means….roughly 1 and a 1/3 song a day…we didnt really do that…but i just did the math…….having recorded the lot, we moved onto mixing 2 songs….Honey was one of them..and heres how it turned out…not mastered yet mind…darn rollicking still we thinks

Honey

ok…so thats part 1 of the blog…”why, is there more parts?” i hear you ask with so much excitement running through you that you could bottle it…well yes…because we took too many random videos to be contained in one meagre blog…next blog shall show our excursion to New York…5 shots for 10 dollar deals in the big Apple….tune back childers…til next time…we bid thee good riddens
